Your High Street needs you!
October 5, 2018
Lisburn City Centre have been shortlisted in the Great British High Street Awards. The Great British High Street (GBHS) Awards are an exciting opportunity for councils and businesses to learn how high streets are succeeding in overcoming the challenges of a rapidly changing environment.
Bow Street in Lisburn City Centre has been entered into the Rising Star Award as the Council hosts a range of events in the city centre throughout the year and the upcoming Lisburn Light Festival features in the application! The events are to attract extra visitors and encourage visitors to spend more time in their city centre, shopping, eating and socialising throughout the year as well as over the peak season at Christmas.
Alderman William Leathem, Chair of the Council’s Development Committee commented, “ I am delighted that Lisburn City Centre has been nominated for this prestigious award. The award is judged on the different initiatives that have been delivered in the city centre, with evidence of the support from the community, and the exciting initiatives still to come. This is a great achievement for everyone given the number of other High Streets that applied and demonstrates what can be achieved when all of the High Street community work together”.
Judges are descending on Bow Street on Thursday 11th October and businesses in the city will have GBHS promotional materials on display to show their support. We are also pleased to have Boogie Beat in the Event Space in Market Square to entertain the little ones, at 11am –and then we would like to invite everyone for a celebratory cup of tea and a bun at 1pm!
Please show your support for Lisburn, your city. 30% of the score depends on your vote! Simply post on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, using #MYHIGHSTREET and #GBHSLisburn to register a vote or follow the link below.
