Twilight Nights by Fairy Light attended by thousands

November 3, 2015

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Twilight Nights by Fairy Light was a bewitching attraction for thousands of Halloween revellers on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October.

Celebrating the success of the popular outdoor experience, The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Thomas Beckett commented: "Twilight Nights by Fairy Light has established itself as a firm favourite among families, local people and visitors to the city of Lisburn.

“There was a carnival atmosphere that provided a fun but safe, way for thousands of people to enjoy the Halloween festivities together.  I am delighted that all proceeds from the sale of this year’s event directly benefits the Mayoral Charity ‘The Mary Peters Trust.”

Theatrical treats on the Friday evening included a host of performers, entertainers, dancers and musicians while a superb fireworks finale brought the two day event to a wonderful close.

Community groups across Lisburn and Castlereagh played a key part in the celebrations.  Supported by The Office of the First Minister and the Deputy First Minister and working with established artists, hundreds of twinkling lanterns created by the young people added to the Twilight glow.

Alderman Paul Porter, Chair of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Leisure and Community Development Committee, commented: “Twilight Nights by Fairy Light was spectacular.  Artistic and civic celebrations like this only serves to bring people of all ages and all walks of life together. I would like to extend my thanks to all participants, artists, partners and Council staff for producing something of such scale and quality and making it such an incredible experience for so many people”.
