'The Missing Piece’ - Lisburn & Castlereagh City CounciI at MIPIM UK

November 2, 2015

Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council recently returned from a very successful three-day exhibition at MIPIM UK, the largest UK exhibition and conference for property professionals, showcasing the area as a prime investment location to a wide audience of developers, investors and other interested agencies.

Amongst presentations by many other UK Cities the Council’s stand with the theme ‘Lisburn & Castlereagh City, the missing piece’ attracted significant interest in the City area and potential investment opportunities.

One of the first visitors to the Council stand was The Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Lord Francis Maude, who commended the Council for being the only exhibitor from Northern Ireland, and wished the team a successful show.

Also supporting the Lisburn & Castlereagh presence at MIPIM was Lagan Valley MP, The Rt Hon Jeffrey Donaldson MP.  Speaking about MIPIM, Mr Donaldson said: “The fact that we are the only location in Northern Ireland exhibiting at this major property exhibition is evidence of how committed the Council is about attracting inward investment to the area, creating jobs and growing the local economy.  We are proud of Lisburn and Castlereagh and we need to show the UK and indeed the rest of the world that we are open for business. Well done to Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council for taking part in the number one event in the UK’s property calendar.”

Chairman of the Council’s Development Committee, Alderman Allan Ewart, added: “Our attendance at MIPIM has been well received.  We have met several potential investors that are interested in having a presence in our City area including hotel, retail and office developments and we have had good productive conversations.  Attracting new inward investment is a key part of our economic strategy and our attendance at MIPIM UK was a great platform to reach a large number of key people in such a short space of time.  We clearly reinforced our message that Lisburn & Castlereagh could be the missing piece in the portfolio of many global investors.”

Over 4000 delegates attended MIPIM UK at the Olympia, London, with over 100 exhibitors showcasing their cities and projects.   The exhibition also had a dedicated programme of conferences exploring national industry trends and giving an insight from senior industry experts highlighting key sectors and all UK regions.
