Test Your Knowledge in the Name of Charity

The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Thomas Beckett would like to invite all table quiz fans to test their knowledge at Lagan Valley Island on 22nd October 2015 from 7.30pm.

The Mayor has organised a table quiz to raise funds in support of his Mayoral charity, the Mary Peters Trust, which supports young athletes across Northern Ireland providing much needed funds and support in their chosen sport.

Councillor Beckett, speaking about the event, said: “During my term in office, the Mayor’s Office has arranged or been part of many fundraising events to raise money for this excellent local charity, the Mary Peters Trust; and I hope people will continue to support our efforts by competing in this event. 

“Well-known quizmasters Mr George McCartney and Mr Michael Rickard will be asking the brainteasers on the night in a variety of subjects including sport, general knowledge and film to name but a few.

“The entry fee is £8 per person and it will be a maximum of six per team on the night.  I look forward to seeing a full house on the night with all entrants keen to ‘pit their wits’ against each other to be champions of the ‘Mayor’s Charity Table Quiz’.”

All Council initiated fundraising activities for the Mayor’s Charity are administered by the Mayor’s Office allowing all funds raised to go directly to the charity.

The purpose of the Mary Peters Trust is to provide an essential link between those who wish to assist Ulster sport and those young athletes (disabled and able bodied) who have the ability and dedication to achieve success in their chosen sport.

The Mayor would like to see over 100 quiz enthusiasts participate on the night, to help raise funds to assist this worthwhile charity support young sportspeople.

The Mayor added: “I hope that table quiz enthusiasts from near and far will come along and enjoy a fun filled, brain teasing evening while helping to raise funds for the Mary Peters Trust.”
