Twilight Nights by Fairy Light - 29th and 30th October
October 16, 2015
Wrap up warm and enjoy the enchantment of Wallace Park’s Twilight Nights by Fairy Light Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October.
Halloween revellers and families can follow the illuminated trail through Wallace Park on Thursday evening from 6 – 9pm. Rhythms of light and sound installations will breathe myth and magic into the atmospheric Victorian Park.
On Friday 30 October from 7 - 9.15pm the park will come alive with theatrical treats, illuminations and soundscapes that will captivate audiences of all ages. Before culminating with a superb fireworks display.
Speaking at the launch celebrations, His Worship the Mayor of Lisburn, Councillor Thomas Beckett said “Twilight Night was a massive success last year. We expect this year’s celebrations, hosted over two nights will exceed expectations and captivate the thousands of people we expect to visit Wallace Park this festive season. It also fills me with pride that all proceeds from the sale of the wristbands from the Friday 30 October celebrations will be donated to my Mayoral Charity, The Mary Peters Trust.”
Community groups across Lisburn and Castlereagh have played a key part in this year’s celebrations. Supported by The Office of the First Minister and the Deputy First Minister and working with established artists, hundreds of twinkling lanterns created by the young people will add to the Twilight glow.
Alderman Paul Porter, Chair of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Leisure and Community Development Committee, said: “Twilight Nights by Fairy Light is going to be another really magical experience for visitors. It’s fantastic to be able to support community groups and festive events that provide so much colour and excitement to our region, while building civic pride and celebrating our diversity.”
A Pop-Up Café featuring food from local restaurants will also provide delicious comfort food to revive Halloween spirits.
