Planning Committee Chairman Welcomes Local Investment by Translink

July 7, 2020

Alderman Owen Gawith, Chairman of the council’s Planning Committee welcomes the approval of Translink’s Knockmore Halt planning application at today’s Planning Committee.  He said: “The location of this train halt is a strategic decision by Translink. The proposal complements the council’s own plans for sustainable development especially in the West Lisburn area with its prevalence of employment and will assist in attracting future investment in the area.  The provision of a new train stop at Knockmore will also help ease congestion in and around the city, and will facilitate wider economic benefits in improving infrastructure links between Belfast and Dublin.

“There will be a Park and Ride facility convenient to this new public transport link.  Knockmore Halt is expected to save commuters journey time, money and probably stress as they travel to work, shop or socialise. We look forward to the progression of this planning application by Translink as part of the wider UK investment in infrastructure.”
