June 1, 2022
Mayor Martin welcomed members of Lisburn BMX Club to Lagan Valley Island for a special reception in recognition of their sporting achievements and community development efforts.
Lisburn BMX Club played host to the Irish National Series Rounds 3 & 4 on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May and are looking forward to doing the same for the Irish Championships at the beginning of July.
Mayor Martin said: “Lisburn BMX Club has over 170 members ranging in age from 3 years old to 50+. From their Bell’s Lane base in Lambeg, they have the only national standard track within Northern Ireland and have ambitious plans for the future.’
“It was my pleasure to welcome them to the Civic Centre together with representatives from Cork City, Ratoath in County Meath, Lucan in Dublin and Courtown in County Wexford to celebrate their sport. It is without doubt that in the 10 years since Lisburn BMX Club has been reformed they have had a huge community impact far beyond BMX circles. The future looks very bright indeed for the club and I am grateful for their ongoing efforts in support of the wider community.”
