LCCC holds Interdenominational Service of Thanksgiving for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

June 2, 2022

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, in partnership with Lisburn City Centre Ministers’ Fellowship, held a special Interdenominational Service of Thanksgiving for Her Majesty the Queen at Lisburn Cathedral.

In his welcome address, Mayor Alderman Stephen Martin said: “Today we reflect on and celebrate the historic reign of Queen Elizabeth II in this her Platinum Jubilee year.

“For the last 70 years, The Queen has shown a unique ability to comfort and guide us through tough times, showing leadership and compassion to all of us here and around the world.

“I am privileged to reflect on Her Majesty’s achievements together in Lisburn Cathedral with representatives from right across the City. I am delighted that young people from Dundonald and Wallace High Schools are very much at the heart of today’s service.”

Dean Sam Wright from Lisburn Cathedral added: “It’s a privilege to bring our community together to give thanks to God for the sacrificial reign of Her Majesty in this Platinum Jubilee year.

“We feel The Queen would be very thankful for this service in her honour today as she is someone of faith and has relied heavily on that over the past 70 years and more.

“We are thankful that Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council contacted us to work with them on this service as part of the wide range of Platinum Jubilee events.

“I’d also like to thank everyone who took part in our service today from our VIP guests, to local schools, council staff and my fellow colleagues in Christ.”

The service was live streamed on the Lisburn & Castlereagh Facebook page which you can WATCH HERE.
