Mayor and Santa visit Ulster Hospital
December 15, 2015
Councillor Thomas Beckett, Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, and Santa Claus visited the Ulster Hospital, Dundonald, recently to wish children in hospital a very Happy Christmas.
The hospital’s Play Specialist, Sharon Millar and Clinical Manager, Paediatrics, Teresa Mungur, led the visit and introduced the Mayor and Santa Claus to the children and their families. Selection boxes and festive best wishes to all were delivered.
The Mayor said: “It was heart-warming to meet children who are in hospital and of course some will remain in hospital over Christmas. Their families of course are the massive support in their lives and I was very pleased to meet some mums and dads who are on hand for their children. I have the deepest admiration for the children I was lucky enough to meet and wherever Christmas is spent I very sincerely hope that it is an enjoyable time for all.
“I am very grateful to the hospital staff of the Ulster Hospital Dundonald for inviting me and for all the organisation. Children always like to see Santa Claus of course and I hope the visit was a success for everybody.”
Teresa Mungur, Clinical Manager Paediatrics said: “On behalf of all the staff in the Paediatric unit I would like to express my sincere thanks to Councillor Beckett and of course to Santa for taking the time to help put a big smile on little faces.”
