LCCC host new COVID-19 test centre in Lisburn
October 30, 2020
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is working in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care and the Public Health Agency to introduce a new COVID-19 test centre in Longstone Street Car Park, Lisburn.
The testing facility is planned to open on Friday 6th November and will offer testing onsite for the public with pedestrian access.
Chair of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Environmental Services Committee, Councillor Nathan Anderson, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Public Health Agency as they continue to provide free testing for anyone displaying symptoms of COVID-19. The new testing facility will mean that local people will have access to a testing site by foot. This will make it easier for anyone displaying symptoms of the virus to follow the guidance and get tested.
“If you have either a high temperature, a new and continuous cough or a loss of or change in sense of smell or taste – make sure you get tested as soon as possible. Please also remember to follow the Government advice on hand-washing and maintaining a social distance and wearing a face covering where necessary, to help protect yourself and others. This supports our ongoing campaign to encourage people to do the right thing right now.”
Longstone Street Car Park will close on Sunday 1st November at 7pm to allow for the initial set up of the test centre to take place. Alternative car parking will be available at Grosvenor Road Car Park. The requirement for the test centre will be reviewed after three months.
