Big Plans for Lisburn & Castlereagh
January 16, 2017
Nurture and reap the rewards
The Strategic Community Planning Partnership’s Draft Community Plan has been produced following a series of community conversations with local residents, businesses and community groups along with key partners from local authorities and government agencies and is launched today. The document outlines the actions required to improve the lives of everyone who lives and works in the area. It is the first step in setting out what we want to achieve highlighting our future aspirations for the next 15 years.
The Mayor, Councillor Brian Bloomfield, MBE, said: “I am delighted to see this major piece of work get underway and would encourage all parts of the community to read it and find out what the plan entails.”
Speaking at the launch of the plan, Chairman of the Strategic Community Planning Partnership, Alderman William Leathem, explained: “The focus of the plan is on you. Improving your life through better health, work, education, childhood and old age. An eight-week consultation process will now begin and we are hoping to see as many people as possible expressing their views. There are many ways you can provide your feedback before the consultation ends at 5.00pm on the 13th March, so use your voice and contribute to your community’s future.”
The Chief Executive, Dr. Theresa Donaldson, said “Members of the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council community now have a unique opportunity to shape the future of their area following this launch. We look forward to hearing from the community.”
