Superheroes and Princesses fly in for 30th Birthday Celebrations
September 16, 2016
Dundonald International Ice Bowl will mark its 30th birthday on Friday 23rd September with a magical celebration which will see ice skating prices roll back to 1986 prices, when the ice rink first opened to the public.
For one day only, customers old and new will be invited to reminisce and take advantage of ice skating sessions for only £1.50 per person and 50p skate hire. It will be the perfect opportunity to treat the family or come along with a group of friends and receive a fantastic discount!
Not only are the prices rolling back but the facility is also hosting a magical superhero and princess ice skating session from 5.15pm – 7.15pm featuring the mighty Captain America, Ironman and Frozen’s Elsa and Anna. Little superheroes and princesses are invited to come along in fancy dress and sing along to their favourite movie songs and see if they can spot Elsa and Anna as they skate around the ice! There will also be face painting and prizes for the best fancy dress for an unforgettable birthday celebration.
The Chairman of the Council’s Leisure & Community Development Committee, Councillor Tim Morrow said, “I am personally delighted to mark the 30th anniversary of Dundonald International Ice Bowl as my father was an Elected Member on the Council when the facility first opened back in September 1986. At that time, it was the first facility of its kind in Northern Ireland housing the only Olympic sized ice rink in the island of Ireland. The following year, the facility then opened the tenpin bowling centre which later expanded in 2004 to introduce revolutionary glow-in-the-dark Xtreme Bowling sessions straight from the USA. Over the years, the facility has added Indiana Land play world to create a premier entertainment complex, which has attracted visitors of all ages from across Northern Ireland and beyond.
“The facility remains a popular choice today, attracting approximately 500,000 visitors per year, making it one of region’s leading and most established tourist attractions. This year now marks the 30th anniversary for the facility, and with proposed refurbishment plans currently being considered for the site, it is hoped the venue will remain a firm favourite for generations to come.”
Ice Skating is available on Friday 23rd September, all day for only £1.50 per person and 50p for skate hire. For further information, please contact the Sales and Bookings team on 028 9080 9123/9129 or visit www.theicebowl.com.
