June 22, 2023
Want a reason to get creative this summer? Then sign up for the ISLAND Arts Centre Summer Arts Festival. It offers activities for all ages so book your spot now!
August Craft Month in particular offers a fantastic programme of workshops and a children’s festival not to be missed.
We have a summer full of excitement planned for children aged 4-16. Between 24th July and 26th August, we are offering wraparound care for week long programmes or one-off workshops to keep young ones entertained.
For the adults there is a wide selection of workshops from local makers in candle making, printing on linen, ceramics, wood carving and more!
Councillor Thomas Beckett, Communities and Wellbeing Chairman said: “The range of creative activities on offer at ISLAND Arts Centre is exciting and has something to suit everyone.
“Two council teams, the Irish Linen Centre and Lisburn Museum, are joining forces to showcase our upcoming Egyptian hieroglyphs exhibition during the summer festival. This will allow our younger residents to explore the Egyptians and appreciate their talents when viewing the free exhibition. It is on tour from the British Museum.
“For young performers out there you can take part in the ISLAND Youth Theatre team activity weeks and enjoy some Egyptian escapades. If art is more you then sign up for our activity weeks with local illustrators, authors and street artists. Together we want to bring the out the best in our young people.
“I am looking forward to seeing what the young people of Lisburn & Castlereagh create at the upcoming Summer Arts Festival. It is shaping up to being a fun time for all.”
