Partnership working will get food parcels to the vulnerable

April 8, 2020

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is in partnership with Lisburn Foodbank, Moira Foodbank and the Department for Communities (DfC) to ensure food parcels reach the most vulnerable in the Lisburn Castlereagh area during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Lisburn Foodbank, supported by council officers as needed, will manage this weekly service that will ensure basic food supplies of mainly non-perishable goods, provided by DfC, are reaching those who are most in need.

As a council, we are keen to ensure that those who are vulnerable or socially isolated in our communities have access to basic food needs and the opportunity to see a friendly face.  In addition to this project, we have developed an online information hub for our residents to access guidance 24/7 through our website www.lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk/communityhelp

Our website shows the collaborative working that is ongoing across the statutory, community, private and voluntary sectors during the Covid-19 pandemic.  We would encourage our residents to go online and see the support available in their local community.

The council thanks Lisburn and Moira Foodbanks for their commitment to delivering these food parcels; and looks forward to working alongside its volunteers.
