COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Community Response Fund

April 9, 2020

Emergency funds, up to a maximum of £3,000 per applicant, are now available through the ‘COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Community Response Fund’, from Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council for those actively helping residents stay resilient at this time.

This is the latest addition to the valuable community support the council is providing and it will aid local voluntary and community organisations and faith-based organisations across our council area who are eligible to apply. There is no closing date for this fund so we can accept applications at any time. Our easy to apply application process and quick turnaround aims to get the funding delivered to the heart of our communities as soon as possible.

The purpose of the fund is to support projects providing essential support to those who are vulnerable in our communities, because of social or economic factors, to keep them safe and supported in their homes.

We will target the grants to increase the coordination and capacity of organisations providing immediate practical support including but not limited to:

Food/care package delivery to vulnerable people self-isolating
Emotional wellbeing and mental health support

Commenting about this fund Leisure and Community Development Chairman, Alderman James Tinsley, said: “Covid-19 has hit a pause button for many people and impacted on their lives. It has never been more important for us as a city to stay connected, taking care of one another and placing communities at the heart of what we do. I would encourage those local groups who are supporting our communities on the ground to consider applying for grant support.

“We are aware of emerging volunteer action taking place to help people locally deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.  These new groups may not have the structures and safeguards in process to access these grants but if you consider collaborating with a constituted organisation, they can receive the grant on your behalf.  Finally I would like to thank the Department for Communities for working with us on this grant opportunity.”
