New wave of Bus Routes Added for Lisburn and Castlereagh
June 9, 2017
Translink have introduced two new service routes for Lisburn and Castlereagh, improving transport accessibility across the city area. One of these new services will run from Lisburn- Ulster Hospital (25c) serving Lisburn Buscentre, Belvoir Park, Castlereagh Council Office, Forestside Shopping Centre and Ulster Hospital.
The second service introduced on July 3rd will be the City Peak Hour service from Wilmar Road to Lisburn Railway station (325M).
Translink Group Chief Executive Chris Conway said, “We’re pleased to announce these new bus services, both commencing July 3. The new Lisburn – Ulster Hospital Service will help reduce barriers to essential healthcare provision benefiting patients, visitors and staff. It will also mean people in the Dundonald, Belvoir Park and Forestside areas can easily travel to Lisburn for convenient access to Lagan Valley Hospital.”
“The new Lisburn City service between Wilmar Road and Lisburn Train Station will help people living in the local area connect with train services at peak times, alleviating parking requirements around the station.”
“We’re committed to delivering a transformation in public transport, providing vital services at the heart of the community that connect people to hospitals, work, education, shops and social activities. We look forward to continuing to work closely with the Council to deliver attractive services for people across Lisburn and Castlereagh and would encourage people to take advantage of public transport as a more relaxing and convenient way to travel.”
Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council Development Committee recently chaired a meeting between members of Council and Translink Chief Executive, Chris Conway to discuss better connectivity around Lisburn City Centre and across the wider Council area. Following the meeting Cllr Uel Mackin, Chairman of Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council Development Committee said, ‘We are delighted with the introduction of these routes which will directly benefit the residents of Lisburn & Castlereagh. We would encourage use of these services to ease traffic congestion, promote a healthier lifestyle and ultimately help the environment.”
“It is important that the Council work together with Translink in increasing the effectiveness of transport systems across Lisburn and Castlereagh to make the district a better place to live and work.”
