Great Turnout at the Color Run, Wallace Park, Lisburn
June 9, 2017
Wallace Park, Lisburn, was transformed into an array of colour on Saturday 3rd June as friends and family gathered together to take part in the craziest and most colourful 5K run, the Color Run.
Dubbed the ‘Happiest 5K on the planet’, the Color Run saw three hundred participants with a spring in their step, walk, run and jog their way around Wallace Park, while being doused in a rainbow of vibrant colours.
Speaking at the event in the absence of the Mayor who was unable to attend, the Mayoress of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Mrs Rosalind Bloomfield said, “I was extremely delighted to be part of the Color Run, which was full of fun and laughter from beginning to end.
“I am pleased to announce that we have raised just over £5,000 for the Mayor’s Charity, TinyLife. This amount will go a long way to help support premature babies and their families across Northern Ireland, an issue which is very close to our hearts.
“I would like to thank everyone who took part in the Color Run. Your support and participation is greatly appreciated.”
Chairman of the Council’s Leisure and Community Development Committee, Councillor Tim Morrow added, “This was a fantastic event for family and friends to come together, to get active, to have fun and to try something a little different to a normal 5K.
“There was a wonderful community atmosphere throughout the morning with participants cheering and encouraging others along the way - it was lovely to see so many people taking part.
“I would like to extend my thanks to those involved in making this event happen and I hope you all really enjoyed the experience.”
