Water Refill Station installed at Billy Neill MBE Country Park

August 27, 2021

We’ve recently installed a new water refill station at Billy Neill MBE Country Park. The water station is located at the front of the Soccer Centre of Excellence building and all facility and Comber Greenway users are being encouraged to make use of the refill point.

The new water station is part of the council’s current rollout of refill taps in the Lisburn & Castlereagh area. Other refill taps are located at Lough Moss Leisure Centre and Lagan Valley Island, with more stations planned to follow in the next few weeks.

Showing his support for the initiative, Councillor Andrew Ewing, Chairman of the council’s Environmental Services Committee, said:

“This is an excellent addition to the Billy Neill facility, which is located just off the comber greenway. I would encourage users to refill and hydrate at this new refill station, using reusable bottles, helps to reduce litter, single-use plastics and waste in the council area.”

Councillor Sharon Skillen, Chair of the council’s Leisure & Community Development Committee, added:

“While exercising either indoors or outdoors, it’s important to stay hydrated. Users of the greenway, country park and soccer centre at Billy Neill can now hydrate easily and for free at the new refill station. Please follow the operational guidance and refill using a reusable bottle.”
