New Head of Service Appointed to Drive Governance
March 25, 2019
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has appointed Mrs Cara McCrory as the Head of Audit, Risk & Performance. This appointment is key to ensuring that the Council continues to operate within its good governance framework.
As a local authority it is essential that the Council has an effective team to oversee its governance in terms of operational policies, practices and processes to mitigate against any potential financial or operational risks.
Councillor Thomas Beckett, Chairman of the Governance & Audit Committee congratulating Cara said: “As a Council, we need to ensure that we deliver high quality, value for money services for our residents, businesses and visitors. Cara’s team will audit our decisions and procedures with integrity to ensure they are transparent and also to keep us at the forefront of public service provision in Northern Ireland. I wish Cara every success as she leads her team in a time of increased public sector accountability.”
David Burns, Chief Executive, welcoming Cara to the Council added: “Cara joins us from a senior role at PWC and I am delighted that we have been to attract such a high calibre individual. I have no doubt that she will work diligently with her team to audit our internal processes, assess our performance and assist local community groups with their governance concerns. As we continue our transformation process, we need to ensure that we are doing the right thing, at the right time, for the right people in an open and inclusive manner. This underpins confidence in the Council to attract inward investment, undertake capital projects and deliver on the Lisburn & Castlereagh Community Plan.”
Cara is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a fully qualified member of the Institute of Internal Auditors. She has worked in professional practice for over 23 years working across a range of public and private sector organisations advising on risk and governance matters.
