New Brand Launched for Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council
March 23, 2015
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council launched its new Council brand today. The launch took place at the new Council’s headquarters, Lagan Valley Island in Lisburn, following the Annual Meeting of Council.
The contemporary brand’s blue palate depicts the graduated merging together of the two former councils’ corporate colours. The brand has been designed to overlap in a circular style and its baseline is inspired by the River Lagan, on which the Council’s headquarters building sits.
Presiding Councillor, Cllr James Tinsley, said: “This modern brand embodies a new era and new style of local government. It also gives cognisance to former Council identities in the chosen colour palate.
“Plans are in place to begin rolling out the new brand and this work will be phased-in over a period of time. Current vinyl graphics will be replaced on Council vehicles as will signage, to build visibility of the new Council. We will officially take up our responsibility as the new local government authority for Lisburn and Castlereagh on 1st April 2015.”
The Chairman of the Governance and Audit Committee, Cllr William Leathem said: “With support for community involvement, the Council’s Marketing Unit and an Elected Members Working Group involved local groups from both areas in the brand’s development through a survey and dedicated interviews. The brand was then tested with focus groups, representative of both areas. It was developed and designed in-house by the Council’s own Marketing Unit.”
The Chief Executive, Dr Theresa Donaldson said: “We have a brand on which to begin to build awareness and identity for the new Council. We want it to represent quality, value, high standards and best cost; and our objective is to bring our area together and serve the community. We will begin this process in earnest through our on-the-ground work for Community Planning and with our new Planning Service as we look towards the continued growth of the Lisburn and Castlereagh area.
