Mayor's Community Awards Launched

October 4, 2016

The Mayor’s Community Awards 2017 has been launched.

The Awards recognise the voluntary and community sectors’ input and dedication to community life across Lisburn and Castlereagh.

A total of eight categories are up for nominations with a focus on community life and community commitment.  Nomination categories are open for individuals and groups.

The Mayor, Cllr Brian Bloomfield MBE said: “It is appropriate that this annual event reflects the work and effort that takes place across the wider Council community.

“The Mayor’s Community Awards will seek to recognise inspirational community endeavours and hard work, with good causes and teamwork recognised across community and voluntary life.

“I would appeal to everyone to submit a nomination form to recognise people or organisations that work hard to help make the area better.  Community work may be highly visible or more discreet depending on the circumstances, and we very much wish to hear about the variety of work that is ongoing.”

Nominations will close on 4th November at 4pm.  Judging will take place in November and an Awards Event will be held in March 2017.

The judging panel will comprise the Working Group with representatives from Volunteer Now, the Education Authority and the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust.
