Launching this year’s Twilight Night by Fairy Light festivities which take place on Friday 28 October, The Right Worshipful The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh, Councillor Brian Bloomfield, MBE said “Twilight Night by Fairy Light is a much anticipated family attraction in our City’s cultural calendar.  Quite simply it is an outdoor experience that will set imaginations alight.   It is a wonderful event drawing our community together in celebration.

The Mayor continued: “Due to its popularity, advance sales of wristbands for Twilight Night by Fairy Light are necessary to ensure visitors to the event have a great evening and the best possible experience. I am thrilled that all proceeds from the wristband sales will benefit my Mayoral Charity, Tiny Life, Northern Ireland's premature and vulnerable baby charity”.

Recent beneficiaries of Tiny Life are Laura and Julian Wilson, proud parents to twins Bella and Jack who were born at only 30 weeks.  The Wilson family are featured here with Councillor Tim Morrow, Chair of Leisure & Community Development, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, The Mayor, Councillor Brian Bloomfield and Mayoress, Mrs Rosalind Bloomfield to launch Twilight Night. While spreading their fairy-tale enchantment are Shannen Cunningham and Courtney Taylor, Performing Arts Students from South Eastern Regional College.

Looking forward to the Twilight Night by Fairy Light festivities on Friday 28 Oct, Councillor Tim Morrow, Chair of Leisure & Community Development, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council said “I am excited to welcome thousands of revellers to Wallace Park.  It will be wonderful to see this much loved landmark come alive with the excitement of families in Fancy Dress, shimmering light installations and live entertainment.  I would encourage anyone planning to attend to get into the festive spirit of the evening.  Just remember it is an outdoor event, so don sensible shoes and wrap up warm.”

A fantastical array of mythical performers, entertainers, dancers and musicians will pop-up amongst the park’s illuminated trails and gnarled trees to the delight and wonderment of young and old alike.

The Armagh Rhymers, one of Europe's most celebrated folk theatre ensembles will carry on a tradition believed to be 2,500 years old and add their atmospheric mumming to the laughter and buzz of the 6000 visitors expected to flock to Wallace Park.

The evening will also be a showcase for local talent with community groups and performing arts groups from across the council area taking part. A highlight will be the Twilight Lantern Parade.  A swaying light and movement spectacular, created by young people from Lisburn & Castlereagh community groups through ISLAND Arts Centre’s Community Arts programme.

Delicious, hot, comfort food will help revive Halloween spirits before a fantastic fireworks finale will set the Twilight sky ablaze with colour and the event draws to a close with one of the largest fireworks displays in the city.
