Mayoral reception held to celebrate School Choir of the Year - Pond Park Primary School

The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Thomas Beckett, recently held a reception to congratulate the BBC Radio Ulster Junior School Choir of Year 2015; Pond Park Primary School.

The Principal, Mr Geoffrey Cherry and members of his teaching staff with the stars of the day, the schoolchildren from the choir, visited the Mayor at Lagan Valley Island.

Mr Paul Givan MLA, School Governor and Elected Members Cllr Amanda Grehan, Cllr John Palmer and Alderman Tommy Jeffers joined the Mayor at the reception.

The Mayor said: “I am so pleased for Pond Park Primary School and would commend its teachers and the children for this fabulous achievement.  The competition in this arena is of an outstanding standard and to carry off the junior school choir of the year crown is a job very well done.  It will have taken hours and hours of practice and dedication.  Well done to all Choir Members and I wish the teaching staff and the pupils of Pond Park Primary School further success in the years to come.”
