Mayor wishes local resident a very happy 103rd birthday
January 19, 2016
The Right Worshipful the Mayor, Councillor Thomas Beckett, met a very special resident this week while carrying out his Mayoral engagements.
Lilly Uprichard celebrated her 103rd birthday on Monday 18th January. The Mayor’s very first engagement of the week was to visit Lilly and wish her Many Happy Returns. Lily is a resident of Lisadian Nursing Home outside Hillsborough.
The Mayor said: “I called to see Lilly and presented her with a bouquet of flowers to mark her very special day and to celebrate her being 103 years young. I was delighted to spend time with Lilly and hear a little bit about her life. Lilly was a keen ice skater in her youth and I remarked to her that Ice Skating is still a popular sport with people and that one of the Council’s facilities, the Dundonald International Ice Bowl, is a very popular attraction for residents and visitors.
“It was lovely to meet Lilly and I hope she enjoyed her birthday. I wish Lilly well for the future,” concluded Councillor Beckett.
