Mayor to host Tea Party for Residents Turning 90 or Older in 2016

April 28, 2016

As part of its 90th Birthday Celebrations for Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, the Right Worshipful the Mayor, Councillor Thomas Beckett, is hosting an Afternoon Tea Party on Monday 6th June for residents who are celebrating turning 90 or older throughout this year.

The Mayor would like to invite any resident from the Council area who turns 90 or older in 2016, to attend this event.  The Afternoon Tea Party will be held in the Island Hall at Lagan Valley Island from 2pm to 4pm.

The Mayor said: “We are working with the local press, local groups, local churches, organisations and nursing homes in the area to spread the word about this very special Afternoon Tea Party to take place on the 6th June for senior citizens who, like the Queen, reach the milestone of 90 years old this year. It would be great to hear from those residents who remember the Queen as a young child.

“There will be entertainment by the Swingabellas and old-fashioned afternoon tea served with plenty of good conversation; so that senior citizens can celebrate their 90+ years of achievement as well as celebrating and discussing those of Her Majesty the Queen,” said the Mayor.

For further information on arrangements, including booking attendance and car-parking or accompaniment; please contact the Mayor’s Secretary at the Mayor’s Office directly on T: 028 9250 9331.
