Mayor hosts reception for Lisburn Area Principals Group

The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Thomas Beckett welcomed the Lisburn Area Principals Group to a reception at Lagan Valley Island, to mark the retirement of two colleagues, Anne Nixon, Principal of Our Lady Queen of Peace Primary School and Jane Karney, Principal of Dunmurry Primary School. Speaking at the reception, the Mayor, Councillor Thomas Becket, said, “I am extremely pleased to be able to host this reception to recognise and celebrate the retirement of two inspirational education professionals, Anne and Jane.

 

“It is quite clear that both Anne and Jane are held in very high esteem, having given so much for the development and betterment of the children and community in Lisburn and the Greater Lisburn area. “Their passion and drive for children’s education is commendable and I would like to sincerely thank them both for their effort and commitment. I hope Anne and Jane have a very happy and enjoyable retirement,” concluded the Mayor.

 

To mark this special occasion, the Chair of the Lisburn Area Principals Group, James Curran, presented Anne and Jane with a farewell gift and wished them both a long, happy and healthy retirement. He also thanked the Mayor, Councillor Thomas Beckett for kindly agreeing to hold this special meeting at Lagan Valley Island.
