Mayor Carson thanks local retired principals
June 8, 2022
Mayor Carson was delighted to host a reception today for seven local school principals who retired during lockdown alongside fellow members of the Lisburn Principals Group.
The retired principals were: Trevor Carruthers of Riverdale Primary; Paul Good of Meadowbridge Primary; John Knaggs of Downshire Primary; Sinead Beare - principal of Christ the Redeemer; Richard Reid of Anahilt Primary; Ian Stewart of Lisburn Central Primary and Fiona Douglas of Killowen Primary.
Speaking about the hard work and commitment of these retirees Mayor Carson said: “I was delighted that one of my first engagements as Mayor was to commend local principals on their dedication to educating our children. I believe it is important to recognise and celebrate our inspirational educators.
“These ladies and gentlemen are held in high esteem by their fellow principals, former colleagues and pupils. As principals they gave so much towards the development and betterment of the children and community in the council area. It was an honour to sincerely thank them for their passion and drive for children’s education. Our children are the future of our community and to have strong mentors from a young age can give them the confidence to achieve their goals and shape futures.”
