Mayor Beckett wishes Gladys a happy 100th birthday

September 2, 2015

The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh, Councillor Thomas Beckett, was delighted to be invited to and attend the 100th birthday celebrations of a very special resident of Annahilt Residential Care Home, Gladys Holmes.

The birthday celebrations were held last week and the Mayor brought flowers, a card and his best wishes to Gladys as her family, friends and care staff came together to wish her a happy birthday.

The Mayor said: “I was really pleased to attend the birthday celebrations and to meet Gladys.  I conveyed to her my very best wishes on behalf of the Council and we had a lovely chat.  My bouquet was not the only one to be presented that day, as there were flowers and cards in abundance; and Gladys greeted all her guests on this very special occasion.

“Mayoral engagements such as this one are very important to me as I so enjoy meeting people of all ages and from all different walks of life.  It is an achievement of course to celebrate being 100 years young and I was made so welcome by Gladys who deservedly was the centre of attention on her very special birthday,” concluded Councillor Beckett.
