September 3, 2015

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has awarded grant support of £147,374 to 53 eligible community and voluntary groups across the Council area.

The aim of the Community Support Grant Scheme is to assist local groups with running costs and develop a partnership between the Council and the community sector across the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area.

Alderman Paul Porter, Chairman of the Council’s Leisure and Community Development Committee said, “The Council is delighted to provide financial support to 53 community and voluntary groups across the Council area.  These groups play such an important role in their local area by developing services to meet the needs of local people and ultimately improving the quality of life in their neighbourhood.

“The Community Support Grants provide financial assistance to groups to support their members in becoming active citizens within their community.  It encourages groups to target areas of social need and empowers people to make and influence decisions in their community.”
