April 11, 2017
The Mayor, Councillor Brian Bloomfield MBE was delighted to welcome staff from McCalls of Lisburn to Lagan Valley Island to celebrate being in business 60 years.
McCalls has continuously provided quality suits, formal wear and school uniforms to over three generations of Lisburn residents since it was founded in 1956 by Robert McCall.
The Mayor, speaking about this award winning business said: “McCalls has a strong relationship with the local community through its personal service providing quality clothing from global brands at reasonable prices. It also works in partnership with local schools to supply key pieces of uniform including blazers and PE kits. This local business has grown to become one of the country’s leading independent fashion retailers and has seen many larger department style clothing shops come and go in Lisburn City Centre.
“McCalls reputation within Lisburn is strong and many residents appreciate the service delivered by this family-owned business. It has always moved with the times and not only keeps abreast of the latest fashions but avails of social media to promote its sales and services. The ability to buy its stock online is excellent for those busy professionals who can’t make it into the store and perhaps prefer to shop online, which is a 24/7 service catering for all.
“I wish McCalls every success in the future and hope it will continue to be run by the McCall family to ensure a consistency in its welcoming, personal friendly service to all customers,” concluded Councillor Bloomfield.
McCalls of Lisburn has won numerous awards over the years including Investors in People in 2004, one of the top four independent menswear retailers in UK& Ireland at the Drapers’ Awards in 2006, 2007 and 2016, and winner of the Customer Service category at the 2011 Lisburn Business Awards.
