Lisburn City Centre Set to Celebrate New Star Wars Release

Lisburn City Centre is hosting an array of free festive activities for all the family this winter. Join us on Saturday 10th December from 11am-3pm for our greatly anticipated ‘The Empire Strikes Lisburn.’

Meet an array of Star Wars characters including Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Biker Scouts, Ventress and more. If that’s not enough join in the hunt to find Luke Skywalker, enjoy browsing through the Star Wars memorabilia and bring along your glowing lightsabre to learn from the Jedi himself. Don’t miss the parade of Stormtroopers through the City Centre and there will be plenty of photo opportunities for all of those selfie kings and queens. There will also be Star Wars themed face painting, glitter tattoos and balloon modelling with a stunning Star Wars ice sculpture situated in Lisburn Square. It’s sure to be a galactic extravaganza!

Chair of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Development Committee, Councillor Uel Mackin commented, “I am delighted Lisburn City Centre is celebrating the release of upcoming film, “Rogue One; A Star Wars Story” with a Spectacular Star Wars day on the 10th December. With something for all the family, be sure to look out for the fantastic line-up of characters. The Star Wars Franchise has a huge following and we are hoping to entertain this loyal fanbase with visitors travelling ‘from a galaxy far, far away’ to attend the event as well as dining in the local eateries and shopping for those must-haves in the run-up to Christmas.” 

Missing the Star Wars fest, don’t worry, wrap up warm and join us for ‘Rock Around the Christmas Tree’ which returns to Lisburn on Thursday 15th December from 6pm-9pm. Market Square will be transformed into a massive family friendly dance party with amazing outdoor lighting, glow sticks, dancers, Christmas characters and lively tunes from DJ Andy Baird. Join in the party and dance to all your favourite festive tunes on the interactive light floor.
