Get Your Electric Blanket Checked for Free

November 24, 2016

Once again to help residents prepare for the cold months ahead the Council will be holding an Electric Blanket Testing Day on 2nd December at Castlereagh Civic Offices and 7th December at Lagan Valley Island.

The Council and Lisburn & Castlereagh Home Accident Prevention Group would like to encourage residents to attend this free event and ensure their electric blankets are safe to use. An appointment is necessary so please contact the Council to secure your free test time.

Old or damaged electric blankets cause over 5,000 fires a year and the Council’s Environmental Health Service would like to ensure all residents remain safe and warm in their beds this winter.
It is important to get your electric blanket serviced regularly, at least every three years. It is cheaper to replace a worn electric blanket than it is to replace your family and your home, so if you are in any doubt about the condition of your electric blanket make an appointment for it to be tested. Alternatively bin it and buy a new one.

Electric Blanket checking will take place by appointment only on Friday 2 December in the Committee Rooms, Castlereagh Civic Offices between 10 am and 4pm and on Wednesday 7th December in the Willow Room, Lagan Valley Island between 10am and 4pm.

Please telephone 028 9049 4583 or email ruth.white@lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk to make an appointment or to get further information on this event.
