Free Car Parking in Lisburn & Royal Hillsborough on Saturdays in December & January
December 3, 2021
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council will be offering free parking in all of its off street car parks on Saturdays in December & January.
This will include seven of the Council’s car parks that are usually pay & display and will extend the already free car parking across the Council area.
The seven locations are Antrim Street, Barrack Street, Governors Road, Laganbank Road, Queen’s Road, Smithfield Square East in Lisburn and Ballynahinch Road in Royal Hillsborough.
Chair of Environmental Services Councillor Andrew Ewing said: “To help boost our local economy we have decided to offer free car parking on Saturdays to our Council owned car parks in Lisburn & Royal Hillsborough.
“The aim is to encourage more visitors to the area in the build up to Christmas but also provide a boost for the economy over the coming two months.
“We hope visitors will come and visit the array of shops we have to pick up Christmas presents or January deals.
Vice Chair of Environmental Services, Councillor Caleb McCready added: “The Council would encourage the local community and those from afar to come and make use of the additional free parking in Lisburn & Royal Hillsborough.
“Alongside shops, we currently have the Light Festival taking place in December in Lisburn along with great cafes and parks to visit.
“In Royal Hillsborough you can enjoy the local shops, restaurants and Forest Park which again is another great day out for the whole family.”
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council would also like to remind visitors that all Council owned car parks can be paid for using the JustPark App during normal charged days.
This is a convenient and safe way to pay and has been put in place to save visitors carrying coins but also helps with minimising the spread of COVID-19 through less contact points.
Simply download the app to your smartphone and use the instructions on the side of the pay and display machine which will give you a location code to enter.
