Fabulous day at our ‘Learn To’ Workshops

October 15, 2019

As part of this year’s 2019 Food & Drink Calendar, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council held ‘Learn To’ workshops in Larchfield Estate on Saturday 12th October. The workshop made use of Larchfield’s various event spaces, including the recently converted Charles Lanyon building, The Old Piggery, as a new experience room.

Five workshops, hosted by the council, offered members of the public the chance to take part in a series of ‘hands-on’, interactive experiences in the fields of food, organic beauty and nature. Workshop topics included Bread & Jam Making, Beekeeping, Fermented foods and Organic Beauty.

Alderman Allan Ewart MBE, Chairman of the council’s Development Committee said: “We are extremely happy with the success of the 2019 Food & Drink Programme so far this year and were delighted to have the opportunity to host our ‘Learn To’ workshops in the bespoke ‘Stables’, ‘Barn’ and ‘Old Piggery’ event spaces at Larchfield Estate. The event brought  together local masters from the local food and drink sector to share their knowledge.  We are proud to have such a versatile facility in our council area and we were delighted to host the first event in Larchfield’s new experience room, The Old Piggery.

Thank you to all our guests and workshop hosts. It was a really special morning of fun filled learning.

Keep an eye out for our next food and drink events!
