Dundonald Ice Skating Club prepare for UK competition!

June 12, 2015

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council welcomed talented figure skaters from Dundonald Ice Skating Club to Lagan Valley Island as they prepare to compete in the Deeside Ice Skating Club IJS Open Competition on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June.

Aiming for top marks, twenty two young skaters will make their way to the Deeside Ice Skating Club in Cheshire to compete against some of the best figure skaters in the UK. A high level of competition is expected and for some, this will be their first competition in front of a panel of judges.

Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Thomas Beckett said, “The competition is a great opportunity for all twenty two figure skaters to put their hard work and training to the test and to showcase the breadth of talent that Dundonald Ice Skating Club has to offer.

“On behalf of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, I would like to wish the Club and competitors every success and most of all, enjoy the experience.”

Chair of Leisure and Community Development, Alderman Paul Porter added, “I would like to encourage all competitors, including those who are new to the competition arena, to give it their all, perform to the best of their ability and have fun.

“Competition in any sport is very demanding and requires a great deal of practice, patience and time; I have no doubt that the dedication and commitment of all competitors will ensure top marks and podium finishes.”
