Debutots franchise opens in Moira

August 9, 2021

The Debutots Mid-Ulster franchise is a drama-in-education company designed to help children improve their literacy and develop cognitive skills through story, drama and play.

Sarah Luckman is a former primary school teacher and principal.  Sarah has embraced the opportunity to encourage children aged 6 months to seven years of age to gain confidence through drama.  Debutots Mid-Ulster offers its services to schools, nurseries and community organisations in Lisburn, Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon.

Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, speaking after a visit to a Debutots session, said: “Through the imagery word of stories and adventures Sarah and her team help our children to develop important cognitive skills such as thinking, reasoning and problem solving.  They also improve their literacy and communication skills.  Their classes complement the Nursery and P1-P3 curriculums in Northern Ireland and offer children the chance to express their feelings in a safe environment.

“I enjoyed hearing how through imaginative role play children can explore feelings, consequences of behaviours and how to build relationships with others.  The development of our young people is important and to have organisations like Debutots work in tandem with our education system is a benefit to children, teachers and parents.  We all want the best for our children and welcome the chance for them to learn while having fun.  I wish Sarah every success with her franchise that supports early learning.”

Debutots Mid-Ulster offer weekly drama sessions, after school clubs, lunchtime clubs, one-off themed workshops and teacher release cover.
