Council to match local businesses with Chinese buyers in new export programme

January 17, 2022

Are you interested in exploring the Chinese business market? Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council (LCCC) is calling for all businesses located in the council area to get in touch and explore trade opportunities in southern China via a virtual trade programme.

One of the council’s key objectives is to raise the international profile of Lisburn Castlereagh and identify new mutually beneficial relationships with other markets in order to grow and bring opportunities and investment to the area.

In 2019, LCCC visited China and established a formal affiliation with the Foshan City Government, and developed relationships with other key partners in the region including the Foreign Affairs Office and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

As a way of strengthening these relationships, LCCC is now developing a virtual trade opportunity alongside CCPIT in China where Foshan-base companies will be invited to meet up with LCCC companies virtually, to establish possible trade opportunities.

Tailored support will be provided to all businesses taking part in the initiative and will include:

  • export development preparation,
  • buyer matching and set up of virtual meetings, and
  • pre-meeting support and preparation.

Ald Amanda Grehan, Chair of LCCC’s Development Committee, said: “Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has developed a strong partnership with Foshan City and we’re excited to launch this virtual trade programme to attract more inward investment and help boost our local economy.

“The programme has the potential to open new doors for Lisburn Castlereagh companies to identify possible trade opportunities and partnerships and I can’t recommend it enough.

“If you’re a business based in Lisburn Castlereagh and want to take part or find out more, please get in touch and email Emma.Fearon@lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk before 24th January 2022."
