Council seeking expressions of interest for the lease of Navigation House

October 7, 2021

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is seeking expressions of interest from a third party or parties interested in leasing Navigation House, one mile from Lisburn city centre.

Navigation House recently benefitted from a £1 million investment programme.  These works restored the house, associated stable block and courtyard to create a multi-purpose facility with office space, breakout rooms and workshop spaces.

Alderman Amanda Grehan, Development Committee Chair commented: “I am delighted we can offer such a versatile and adaptable space in a prime location. I would encourage local businesses and social enterprises across the council area to avail of this opportunity.  Navigation House, the former residence of the Canal Manager of the Navigation, can deliver innovative initiatives that will be of benefit to local communities.”

Navigation House is designed to provide space to accommodate the delivery of programmes by third parties that focus on: skills development, employment, learning, volunteering and outreach in relation to waterways, the Lagan Canal and its surrounding communities.

The newly refurbished building offers office space, breakout rooms and workshop facilities on the ground floor. The stables have been developed into a meeting room and further workshop space to offer community and training facilities.

The council is committed to supporting innovative initiatives that can provide a positive social and economic impact. It is open to social enterprise organisations and collaborations between providers looking to work within the heritage and environmental management sectors.
