Council launches new vision for Castlereagh area

November 12, 2021

Today, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council (LCCC) launched a refreshed vision for Carryduff, Dundonald and Forestside. The Castlereagh Urban Framework (CUF) sets out the council’s regeneration and investment priorities for the area over the next ten years and is available to view here.

Following the merger of Castlereagh Borough Council and Lisburn City Council in 2015, the Castlereagh Urban Integrated Development Framework (CUIDF) was revisited to reconsider the vision for the Castlereagh area. This revised framework, now rebranded as the CUF, recognises Castlereagh as a growing Urban centre and will act as a catalyst to drive investment to the area whilst improving the quality of life for those who work and live there.

Alderman Amanda Grehan, Chairman of the LCCC’s Development Committee, said: “The  revised CUF sets out a comprehensive programme of proposals to create attractive places within these urban areas, where visitors will want to spend time and money, encouraging further investment in the future.

“We want to shape a positive future for the Carryduff, Dundonald and Forestside areas and the council has been mindful of the importance of reviewing the strategic context of the CUF alongside the development of its Community Plan and Local Development Plan.
