Christmas magic to be celebrated in Lisburn & Castlereagh communities

November 22, 2022

With Christmas fast approaching, twenty local community groups are getting festive with local Christmas switch-on events across the Lisburn & Castlereagh area.  These will take place between 25th November and 9th December.

These groups received funding from the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council ‘Community Christmas Tree Grants Scheme’.

Councillor Aaron McIntyre, Chairman of the council’s Leisure and Community Development Committee, recognising the commitment of all involved, said: “Our communities are a vital part of civic life. Local community groups have been working extremely hard to enable residents, both young and old, to enjoy the magic of Christmas in their local area.  Together they will bring a real sense of community spirit to the festive season.

“The council is pleased to provide funding for such community based events and offer support to those bringing Christmas celebrations to the heart of our local communities.  I would like to thank all those involved for organising these events and look forward to celebrating Christmas across the Lisburn Castlereagh area with our local community groups.”

Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Scott Carson, added: “Our local community groups have created events that suit the needs of their community while making best use of the council’s funding.  I have no doubt there will be plenty of Christmas magic and sparkle across the Lisburn & Castlereagh area this festive season. Each community event is set to be a special occasion for all of the family to enjoy!!”
