Annoyed by Noise?
April 24, 2020
If you are experiencing what you believe to be a noise nuisance in the Lisburn Castlereagh area then please download the council’s free ‘Noise App’ to record details for an investigation.
Report all alleged noise nuisances to the council first by phoning its Environmental Health Service on 028 9244 7397.
Local residents with a smart device can use this App to submit evidence in relation to their complaint. Through the App, you can log every time the noise occurs and record the noise itself, all of which form records for council officers to review.
During the current unprecedented time when many are in their homes more often during the day, the council would like to remind everyone to be considerate of their neighbours and keep any noise at an acceptable level.
Alderman James Baird, Environmental Services Chairman said: “The council is committed to using new technology that will be beneficial to local residents by making it easier for them to contact us. The Noise App is straightforward to use and the digital date/time logs and recordings are sent to the council through a secure website.
“However please be assured this App does not mean you won’t receive a visit from a council officer with the exception of during the current Covid-19 pandemic. We need to visit your home to determine if a statutory noise nuisance exists, but the App helps you provide evidence to support your allegation faster. Evidence is needed especially if the council is to take formal action.”
A noise nuisance is more than annoyance and much more than just detection of a noise. It is a continuous or intermittent unwanted sound causes a significant and unreasonable disturbance affecting your quality of life. The council can look into noise nuisance caused by music, DIY, barking dogs, and other domestic, commercial or industrial sources.
