Angela McCann named as new LCCC Head of Communities

May 9, 2022

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council (LCCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Angela McCann as Head of Communities.

Angela, who has worked in various roles in LCCC for 19 years, will be part of the Leisure and Community Wellbeing’s senior team working with our local communities across Lisburn Castlereagh.

Angela’s council journey began in 2003 managing the Council’s District Policing Partnership before moving onto the Policing and Community Safety Partnership as well as having responsibility for the delivery of democratic services and mayoral office functions.

Speaking about her new role Angela said: “I am honoured to have been recently appointed as the Head of Communities. I look forward to leading a team of dedicated officers across the communities, culture and heritage, arts and community planning units.

“The team delivers first class services and in the last two years in particular, we have placed our communities at the heart of everything we do.

“I have seen an innovative response to the COVID-19 pandemic which has been delivered through real partnership working between LCCC and the whole community. We were all in unfamiliar territory but we worked together to deliver for the residents of Lisburn Castlereagh.

“Looking ahead, I am committed to delivering on the commitments in our Community and Corporate Plans.

“I am also excited to get going with the Local Investment Plan 2022/23 following the success of last year’s initiatives which has seen a large portion of the £1 million invested to empower our communities and support health and wellbeing.

Councillor Sharon Skillen, Chair of Leisure & Community Development said: “I am delighted that Angela has taken on this role. She has already demonstrated that serving our local community means so much to her and is therefore a natural fit.

“As a council we want to ensure the best outcomes for our communities. Our aim through this appointment is to continue serving the community and provide valuable resources, as we have showcased especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“I wish Angela well and look forward to working closely with her as we continue to support and grow our local communities.”
