Your new High Street Ambassadors – on hand to help.
November 18, 2020
From today (18 November) you will see some new friendly faces on the streets of your council area. The team of ‘High Street Ambassadors’ will provide assurance that our towns and city centre remain a safe place to visit by having a visible presence and they will start their new role in the streets of Lisburn City Centre and Dundonald.
The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Nicholas Trimble, explains: “We all want to support our high street and our business community as much as possible at this difficult time, but we must always take every precaution that we can to drive down the Coronavirus cases at the same time. I hope that our new High Street Ambassadors will be able to assist both our businesses and the public and be a visible, public presence to help us all get through this difficult time. As we approach Christmas I believe that we need to remind people to visit our towns and city centres but to do so safely and responsibly.”
We are doing the ‘Right Thing, Right Now’ by introducing this new team onto our streets to help. If people and retailers work together to follow the public health guidance and adhere to the government regulations then we are in a much better place to fight Coronavirus. Having council staff on hand to provide useful advice, promote personal safety or simply point people in the right direction is a great way to add a little brightness to our high streets and make your shopping experience as safe and enjoyable as possible.
In the lead up to Christmas our Ambassadors will be on hand to let you know about the Christmas events we will be hosting. So as you can tell these people are much more than feet on the street.
The High Street Ambassadors are part of ongoing programme of Covid recovery and support for business community.
