Tourism & Hospitality Grant Programme
January 18, 2021
Alderman Jim Dillon MBE, Development Committee Chairman has received an update on the council’s Tourism & Hospitality Grant Programme. He said: “I am delighted that many businesses in these two sectors have already submitted applications for support at this time. These grants are available to help such businesses prepare for their market recovery and reopening in line with government guidance.
“Tourism is important to our local economy. We are keen to help local businesses be in a state of readiness to take advantage from opportunities on offer through proposed national and local tourism initiatives. When the restrictions are relaxed such initiatives will stimulate new market conditions to support the expected increase in staycations and reduction in foreign travel.
“Our grant scheme supports the objectives of Tourism NI’s proposed ‘Domestic Tourism Strategy’. As individuals we have adapted to a ‘new norm’, and as a council we must work with our local accommodation providers, food and drink establishments, attractions, and activity providers to support their future.
“The council’s Tourism & Hospitality Grant Support programme can help them showcase their offering to holiday makers and day trippers in a competitive marketplace, especially when industry has been closed for a long period due to the coronavirus pandemic. If you are a hospitality or tourism business in the Lisburn Castlereagh area and are interested in applying for support then please do so before the closing date of 26th February.”
