The Lagan tow path cycleway is Clearly upgraded!

March 25, 2022

The Lagan tow path cycleway at Piper’s Quay Lisburn has been upgraded and rerouted, thanks to safety work undertaken by The Clear Group.

The Clear Group, who established Clearly Kids day nursery in Pipers Quay premises two years ago, upgraded the car park, diverted the tow path around the edge of the site, improved the path surface and created surface markings to clearly identify the cycleway to pedestrians.

The Chair of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Development Committee, Ald Amanda Grehan, welcomes the improvements and investment into the local infrastructure.

She said, “We’re grateful for this investment from The Clear Group, which is of the highest specification possible and the most robust in terms of safeguarding children.

“Creating safe, continuous cycle paths and greenways is an important part of our vision to create a walkable city where there will be more areas for pedestrians in the city centre and active travel (like walking or cycling) is encouraged.

“This work will allow improved movement for cyclists and pedestrian in their transition to and from the Union Bridge junction and onward along the cycleway.”
