April 27, 2023
The Belfast Agreement, also known as the Good Friday Agreement, will be on public display at the Irish Linen Centre & Lisburn Museum on Friday 28 April, 10am-4pm. No booking is required.
The original UK Government’s signed copy of the Agreement features the signatories of the then Prime Minister Tony Blair, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, the late Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Mo Mowlam and Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs David Andrews. It is on loan from The National Archives (UK) to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Agreement.
Cllr Scott Carson, Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to visit the museum and view an important, historic document. The treaty is on display alongside a small exhibition exploring the history of the Belfast Agreement.”
