Swaziland Choir visit Dundonald Ice Bowl

The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Uel Mackin and Mayoress, Mrs Jennifer Mackin have welcomed a group of six ladies from Swaziland to Dundonald International Ice Bowl to enjoy a well-deserved break during their busy tour of Northern Ireland. 
 

The group called ‘Women Set Free’ are a testimonial gospel choir from Mbabane in Swaziland, who are touring churches and schools during their 14 day tour of the province.  The aim of their visit was to thank the people of Northern Ireland for their support, share their remarkable stories and bring a message of hope to the many women suffering terrible plights in their home country.
 

Speaking at the visit, the Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Uel Mackin said, “I am honoured to welcome the ‘Women Set Free’ group to Dundonald International Ice Bowl.  The women are an inspiration to others as they embrace the world with such enthusiasm and joy despite the many challenges and vulnerable situations they have faced in their home country. I was personally thrilled that the choir took time out of their activities to perform praise songs from their homeland; an experience which was uplifting and memorable for everyone listening within the facility.”
 

“I would like to thank Gary Armstrong from Challenge Ministries for coordinating the visit and the many churches and schools who have supported various community projects across Swaziland, including the construction of a refuge centre which many of these women have benefited from. I hope the group enjoy the rest of their visit to Northern Ireland and their inspirational message continues to touch the lives of many local people”, concluded Councillor Mackin.
