SWAZILAND CHOIR VISIT DUNDONALD ICE BOWL

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has welcomed a group of sixteen children and young people from Khulula Choir in Swaziland to Dundonald International Ice Bowl this week.  The choir, who are visiting Northern Ireland for the next 14 days, were invited by the Mayor, Councillor Thomas Beckett to the Dundonald leisure facility for a well-deserved break during their busy schedule.

Under the care of Challenge Ministries, the choir have made the long trip from Mbabana, the capital city of Swaziland, to embark on a tour of England and Northern Ireland.  The choir are aged between 6 and 18 years and represent the many children of Swaziland who are found orphaned or in vulnerable situations.

Speaking at the visit, the Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Thomas Beckett said, “I am honoured to welcome the Khulula Choir to Dundonald International Ice Bowl.  The children are an inspiration to others as they embrace the world with such enthusiasm and joy despite the many challenges they have faced in their young lives. I was personally thrilled that the choir took time out of their activities to perform two traditional songs from their homeland; an experience which was outstanding and memorable for everyone listening within the facility.”
