Statement on job losses locally from Henderson Foodservice
May 22, 2020
Alderman Allan Ewart MBE, Development Committee Chairman has said that the news of job losses at local business Foodco, a subsidiary of Henderson Foodservice is disappointing.
Alderman Ewart MBE said: "Any job loss is a concern and during these challenging times it is particularly worrying for local businesses and their employees. The council is disappointed to hear that 19 jobs will be lost at the distribution depot in the Lisburn Castlereagh area. My immediate thoughts are with those workers who will be losing their jobs and their families.
“As a council, we are keen to work with Henderson Foodservice, its workers and all relevant agencies to offer support as a merger of Henderson’s recently acquired companies Foodco and BD Foods takes place. The council is keen to equip these local individuals with important information and support through this difficult time," said Alderman Ewart MBE.
These 19 job losses are part of an overall loss of potentially 115 jobs across the various companies (HFL, Foodco and BD Foods) within Henderson Foodservice, a market leading food service business in Northern Ireland.
