Statement from Ald Amanda Grehan on AIB Lisburn

July 14, 2021

“I am disappointed to hear the news this morning of AIB’s plans to close 8 of its branches, including the Lisburn branch. This is the loss of another key banking service in the local area following a similar decision by Danske Bank announced last week. I am sure that this will be a very worrying time for AIB staff.

“I am glad to hear that AIB has plans to enhance their partnership with the Post Office to allow customers to conduct everyday banking transactions in any their 500 outlets in Northern Ireland. This will help ensure that local people continue to have access to much needed services in our communities.

“As our business community continues to recover, I urge anyone affected by workplace redundancy or business challenges to contact the council’s Business Solutions Helpline on 077 152 69688. This dedicated team of professionals are on hand to give you information on a range of support options available to you.”
